The other formative books from that period were the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. The girl who wanted to be a knight who rebelled against society’s expectations and gender roles changed who I was as a child. So many books of rebellion in my childhood… (🧵4/4)

While I related to wanting to run wild in the mountains, Heidi also taught me that arbitrary rules will stand in your way, that authority doesn’t like to be questioned, & diligence pays off. The book was good. The life lessons made me a nightmare to my teachers and a good adult. (🧵3/4)

It got so bad, I eventually got sent to the principal’s office. When my parents wouldn’t punish me for breaking the rules, the school tried to suspend me from the library. My best friend’s mom, who worked at the school, found out and checked the book out for me. (🧵2/4)

I’m the GM & the only person who’s met everyone in person. All of these wonderful women trusted me to pull together a group & have really enjoyed collaborating online. When I suggested an in-person game as an aside before a session everyone immediately started looking for flights. It was incredible!

My online #Daggerheart group is flying in from all around the country so that we can meet in person and play an in-person session Friday! I bought and painted everyone character minis as a surprise and have been building terrain for weeks! I’m so excited!!
