SOCK IT TO ME Floatin’ in the river with a saturated liver and I wish I could forgive her but I do believe she meant it when she told me to forget it and I bet she will regret it when they find me in the morning, wet and drowned… and the word gets round… goin’ down

Tonight's Muppet Show guest starring Cloris Leachman. The one where the pigs take over, leading to a genuinely surreal half hour featuring Kermit The Pig, Fozzie Pig, The Swedish Pig and a Pig Newsman. The day saved by Cloris and her pig-calling abilities. Good grief.

While browsing old listings, I keep stumbling across schedules that have episodes of "Windmill" in them. I loved that thing. I hold it (and Chris Serle) almost single-handedly responsible for my fascination with old telly (well, him and Uncle Frank Muir on TV Heaven). Magic served up, every Sunday.

Students of the silly Radio Times listing may be as delighted as I am by this 1984 one for "The Demon Cakestand of Beestley Chase, the opening Tale From The Mausoleum Club. Stephen Fry and Michael Ripper, together again for the first time. Terror.

One of the nicer wee Christmas traditions - the Radio Times specially posed photoshoot in which all of their heavy-hitters tell us about their festive plans. The 1982 one is an absolute pippin.

Beatle Season is upon us once again and the merchandise rains down. Quite tickled by this dinky wee "3D Perpetual Calendar". 35 quid, which is a fair amount to pay if you want your "daily dates with a Beatlemania twist" (it says here)

Last night's Muppet Show - Bob Hope. During their version of "For What It's Worth", sung by a chorus of woodland animals - a Muppet Fox. Look, there he is at the back left. You don't get too many Muppet Foxes, but they're always a joy when they turn up.

Tonight's Muppet Show - guest star Petula Clark, with a beautifully silly running gag.

"Say, is there a Mickey Moose around here?"
"Who's asking?"
"I'm his friend, Ronald Duck"

Latest in a remarkable digital collection of radio thrillers (Ted Willis, Berkeley Mather, Ted Allbeury all done so far) - "Murder is My Subject", rounding up the work of Philip Levene. 15 productions dating from 1957 to 1973, recordings provided by Keith Wickham of the Radio Circle. Amazing.

Happy International Manny Day, everyone

I'd just like us all to take a moment to admire, adore, covet and generally worship the coat Sylvester's wearing in the "Bidding Adieu" video.

Holy Mother of Grud, the cover of this month's Judge Dredd Megazine is *amazing*. I mean, my bloodthirsty inner ten year old is running about shouting in delight. My outer bloodthirsty much older self is doing much the same. I mean, look at it. Everything you could possibly need.

Always the same, isn't it? Heavy rain outside, battering at the window. You're sitting minding your own business and then you look out and there's Peter Gabriel glaring in at you. I wouldn't mind, but I'm on the third floor.

Finished Nick De Semelyn's splendid "Wild and Crazy Guys" and have been struck by something which I think I was struck by not that long ago. I don't appear to have seen - and this astonishes me way more than it can possibly astonish anyone else - "Beverly Hills Cop".

Posh Paws as John Travolta, from a 1980 Radio Times.

You're very welcome.

Dressing room allocations for Parky, 9th Sep 1978. Just look at that!

Looking at the production documentation for Blake's 7 - Redemption. The rehearsal room listing for 8th Sep 78 is fascinating. Rentasanta, The Aphrodite Inheritance, Basil Brush and something called One Bummer News Day all in there at once.
