O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" Galatians 5:22-23a

Henry Nouwen (1932·1996) & Fred Rogers (1928·2003), also Mister Rogers, became good friends c. 1984. They encouraged, corresponded, and phoned each other often.

True! I forgot about The Word’s End (I may have watched this one twice so far). Though Hot Fuzz is my favorite, and I even have the DVD. This kind of humor just works for me as well. :-)

We pray for your holy Catholic Church. Fill it with truth, in all truth with peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; Amen.

I confess I haven't known about Carolyn Arends or Bellsburg project before, nor most Bellsburg artists. I sampled both on YouTube and found Arends and the project's artists very interesting. Thanks for the reply! 🙏

… and was both impressed and pleased in my curiosity.

The book I learned about it is Bede’s Ecclesiastical History which I began reading last week, and of all things I’ve read so far, I suppose it was the scarlet dye which impressed me most. :-)

I often don’t recall (or think of) my dreams. Last night I had an odd one - they normally are - as I dreamt of an ancient scarlet dye which “remains unfaded by sunshine or rain; indeed, the older the cloth, the more beautiful its colour.”

I “saw” it new, and I “saw” it old…

Just one of my son’s top favorites! We’ve been watching it a couple of times a month for a while now! The Vicar’s scenes are some of my favorites by the way.

For some unresolved reason, I never got hold of an Aces High DVD, though I wanted to. To date, I have watched this film three times, twice on a rented VHS tape when I was a kid, and just a couple of months ago on Prime (still available by the way).

Well, Battle of Britain (1969) might as well be my top warbird film, followed closely by Aces High (1976), then perhaps by The Blue Max (1966), with an "honorable mention" to Air America (1990), even though the latter features mostly cargo planes — all before CGI — just real pilots and real planes!

4/4 … One thing though, Todd Hunter's book was Giving Church Another Chance. Back when we found ourselves without a home church, we picked this book up from our neighbor's Little Free Library - our neighbor knew our situation, so we wonder if she left it there on purpose, though we never asked. :-)

The Parking Lot Sale goes from 8/11-8/14 for the Inside Track Club, and from 8/15-8/17 for the rest of us. The new Icon kit is on sale according to HF’s page. 40% off is a considerable discount. If they still have it by Friday I might get one.

Proverbs 22:28 is about (cheating on) land boundaries – not pro-slavery rebels!

Never mind the irony in the context of gerrymandering! 🙄

3/3 … Just ideas though. I think the $80 is a bit steep – perhaps on sale one day.

On a related note, I consider my mini Icon kit, plus a Quinn electronics repair kit and a Bauer cordless rotary tool, my best HF acquisitions — all on sale.

A rotary tool uses various accessories (eg cutting guide).
