Now I have returned from some well needed summer vacation, I am pleased to announce that I will remain at Aalto University for another 2 years! Still with a focus of space weather *not* necessarily always in our Solar System 👀

Aurora just peeking in Espoo tonight! Some curtains in shot before she went all diffuse (nice green tinge in the sky)

As much as I sort of joked about this, it is actually an issue that needs fixed... If the climatology nowcasting needs work, then our space weather forecasting needs MORE work (since many methods use climatology methods)... And with the clamp down on NOAA, it will only get more difficult

Not me baffling Computer science students with the Dungey Cycle dance... It has been a while

Thank you to @diasdublin.bsky.social and the Solar and planetary groups for having me last week to present my latest work and to talk science! Always love working with these great groups and their projects that literally span the solar system!

Playing a gig for vanhojenpäivä (old people's day - high school graduation with traditional dances and they dress up in old clothes. Very interesting tradition...), forgetting I had to do it all again 😴

So this was the sky last night. Early evening is the best time to catch the planetary parade, but it’ll be happening for few weeks, and Mercury might even be visible too at the end of the month.

A filament located in the southwest quadrant is currently in the process of lifting off at the time of this update. A further update will be provided once this event is complete.

This is very grim... So only straight white men can now be successful? And everyone else their success comes from DEI hires?
NASA did a feature on me last year. It was up this weekend but now when you click on the link you get a 404 message.

Very grim but I'm not surprised. I had a feeling NOAA would be on their list as they research climate change, (space) weather monitoring etc. Their research is invaluable to science... So this scary...
