Yesterday, we caught up on some unfinished business when our President, @mrtrickett.bsky.social, presented Tileyard North with one of our Design Awards for their Gradient Mill. (See photo)

This modern office building is part of the revitalised mills complex at Wakefield's waterfront.

And that's it. We've reached the deadline for entries to our Architectural Photography Competition. A huge 'thank you' to everyone who has submitted entries. We'll be exhibiting the entries as part of a Heritage Open Days exhibition at Wakefield Exchange from 12th to 21st September.

A really good turnout tonight for our second Dining Club meeting of 2025. Tonight, we were at Delphi Restaurant, just off the Bull Ring when 28 of us sat down to eat Greek-style food. (No plates were broken!)

Our first Dining Club outing of 2025 took us to Prego, an Italian restaurant off Westgate. Well worth braving the freezing weather for a very enjoyable evening.

On 12th November 2024, we unveiled a blue plaque commemorating Mabel Lucy Matthews. Born in Wakefield, she went to to become an electrical engineer and instigated the creation of the Electrical Association for Women (EAW). The EAW held its first meeting on 12th November 1924 in London.
