Both defrosting and pressing tofu require me to have my life together and explicit plans for what I’m making for dinner like an hour in advance of when I need them. And the microwave requires 90s.

Also best pan fried tofu is how @justin_snacks on tt does it. And then I do sauce on top after frying

Some vegans on TikTok did tofu water removal experiments. And it doesn’t work great for extra firm, but I always buy firm and it is so good for this.
I slice the block into 2-3 slabs just so I don’t get weird crunchy edges.

The frozen tofu hack also works but I don’t like it as much.

This is more of a tofu improvement for any recipe but I’ve found it’s improved my life 10x:

Don’t bother pressing your tofu for an hour. Microwave (bear with me) it and the water leaches out in 90s and then I dump said water and it absorbs a marinade or does a pan fry beautifully.
