I usually try to avoid this kind of texturing when making realistic models. Literally just taking random photos of the building, no PBR detail at all.

But I simply told to do this, not a serious thing anyway and the result is still satisfying.

What I meant by "frostbite uses the same mesh" is that you may have seen the game viewport of frostbite editor sometimes have the simplified look like this. This is pure assumption, but I think using this meshes for portal in godot is more practical than hundred gigabytes of the raw assets

Forgot to apply rotation so pressing specific axis while moving would move it towards the cross axis instead. lol.

Revisiting aok.heavengames to find the old SketchUp tutorial to make building mod in Age of Empires 2. But instead I found this tutorial for Blender and the result give my specific nostalgic vibe that I want to make buildings that looks like this

It's so easy to fill up 2GB VRAM with a bunch of 2K textures so I'm working at 1 fps 🥰

But jokes aside I really love that this kind of texturing is possible inside Blender with Ucupaint.

not low poly in style but I'm making more than a dozen buildings at the moment. Just finished at marking UV seams on each of them, about to arrange the UVs.

Also, how do you make the backface highlighted red but not the front-facing faces blue in your screenshot?

UV mapping is pretty a satisfying process. It's just quite reptitive.
