Apparently Americans need to be reminded yet again that we have never suspended elections during a war. Lincoln was reelected during the Civil War (a large part of why we have absentee voting), FDR during WW2. It's never been true, and scaring folks with untrue things makes you not a good person.

As the US 250 looms. I’m just prepping for what’s undoubtedly going to be a year of disappointment. For the same reason the Army’s 250, I can’t celebrate what’s great about this country when MAGA is in charge. I’ll probably find some way to do it for myself but nothing feels right with these people

It’s hard to describe how you begin to unpack the “Trump has brought respect back to America” from MAGA family members. Especially with Ukraine being tossed around like loose change because of us. I have a pretty split family, but the MAGA side speaks loud. Dems gotta win next year man.

I work with a Russian who migrated to the U.S. in the early 90s. Genuinely a nice lady but it’s odd. We got dinner the other night with another work friend. And conversations got a little political.

It does need to be said. It’s very clearer a scare attempt by Trump to Putin. It’s not going to work, and taken out of context it doesn’t look very flattering. But it’s very clearly away to project power in a very 12 year old way. Just being objective.

Something I feel the need to let as much of the world know. A lot of Americans, right & left, have been pro Ukraine from the start. The difference is rn, GOP feels vindicated. They misled themselves into believing Biden was giving that equipment away free. That’s one of the reasons they feel okay.

Knowing as much history as I do means realizing we’re watching a repeat of the 1920’s. Radically con/authoritarian corporate president wanting to pull the US away for “traditional” economics. Even got the same story of dude with an undeserving Ivy League degree. Trump and Hoover are pretty similar.

I think the sad thing is Americans aren’t just mad for helping countries fighting for survival. But there’s a portion who want to go to war with the people in public service. Just because they’ve been told things that aren’t true.

The saddest part about yesterday is the Army did actually deserve a birthday. It sucks hard that Trump usurped it like he did. The best part is America gave him a big middle finger.

The thing that’s pissing me off is there doing things that contradict each other. They say they want to streamline programs then to issue memos requiring redundant reviews of projects over a threshold. Or they’ll say what they said yesterday then change programs that extend beyond 1 to 2 years.
The head of FEMA’s disaster command center, responsible for coordinating the national response to earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies, has submitted his resignation.

Saw a few posts today that’s reminded me that this app is as much, in some cases, an echo chamber for the left as twitter is for the right (now). The doomer takes remind me of the stuff I saw on twitter. Trust but verify.

So got a fun email, curious if more in FEMA got it. Just to an appointment to a different duty station. The FJO I signed was a 4 year appointment, just updated today to a 2 year appointment.

I’m still not sure what to think about Cam Hamilton but he gave a decent argument yesterday. Speaks volumes that they fired him so fast.

Being in region 3, A LOT of senior staff have either retired or left the agency. When Hurricane season hits, we’re going to get the blame.
