Education research has yet to grapple with its roots in eugenics. Eugenicists argued that certain races were inferior. This was reframed as some cultures being inferior and more recently as different but the end result is still the same—racialized ways of knowing are framed as a barrier to learning.

In my opinion, inclusion and equity aren’t opposites.
In my opinion, treating all children the same, despite differing needs, is unfair.
Hence, individualized logopedic/SLT support enables true inclusion.
And: inclusion mustn’t be used as an excuse for staff cuts at schools.

I would like to express my gratitude for the invitation to the Bremen state parliament! Today, some of my students, research associates and I followed the invitation of the spokesperson for children and families, incl a discussion with MPs on child language health and need for SLTs in schools 🧵
