What an inspiring experience at the #IALP Congress 2025 in Malta!
It’s a true pleasure to be here, surrounded by outstanding colleagues and friends from all over the world. 🌍

Education research has yet to grapple with its roots in eugenics. Eugenicists argued that certain races were inferior. This was reframed as some cultures being inferior and more recently as different but the end result is still the same—racialized ways of knowing are framed as a barrier to learning.

The #IALP2025 World Congress promises to be an enriching event, full of inspiration in the field of communication sciences and disorders.
I'm especially excited about reconnecting w esteemed colleagues, and planning future collaborations — all in the interest of the clients we serve.

Teaching how to make #hearing assessments more child-friendly for children affected by language disorders. Methods from augmentative and alternative communication #AAC , such as using #Metacom symbols, can significantly support children's understanding of the examination process #devlangdis

In my opinion, inclusion and equity aren’t opposites.
In my opinion, treating all children the same, despite differing needs, is unfair.
Hence, individualized logopedic/SLT support enables true inclusion.
And: inclusion mustn’t be used as an excuse for staff cuts at schools.

I would like to express my gratitude for the invitation to the Bremen state parliament! Today, some of my students, research associates and I followed the invitation of the spokesperson for children and families, incl a discussion with MPs on child language health and need for SLTs in schools 🧵

Your baby begins to understand the language you use even before they can replicate it.

That’s because language learning occurs along two interconnected pathways.
