For me the results are what matters most so I’m ok tolerating whatever pain I have to. I’ll pay that cost if that’s what it takes. When I started they were using this cryo cooler that shot a cold blast with every pulse. Then they switched to a continuous air cooler which was much nicer

With my Fitzpatrick type (somewhere between2-3) they had me on the ALEX . The results were good but later in my treatment one of the techs asked if I’d be okay if we tried the yag and the most immediate difference was the pain. I was like, you sure it’s on? I barely felt anything with the yag

It’s crazy how insidious this kind of thing is. I didn’t learn about this way back when I was interested in pursuing a pre-med degree but rather when I started looking into getting laser hair removal. Even then I only learned that because I went full autist during my research.

A lot of pulse ox meters wont work on darker skin or if they do the readings are intermittent at best. The tech was developed exclusively on light skin tones and such the wavelength of light used in them were selected based on that data alone. Diversifying test groups is important!
