They want to find someone who excites young voters, but they want the young voters to act like people who won't survive long enough to suffer the effects of global warming, who do own a house from their first job and rent out several more, and who have exploited young people for decades.
Next time Democrats say that they want to find someone who excites young voters and gets more people engaged, think about how extraordinarily weird and racist they got when Mamdani won his primary by a landslide.

A nice reminder of the immense power contained in saying “no.” When people refuse to comply, it raises the costs ($$$, political, social, etc) of enforcing authoritarianism. They very well might try anyway, but every person that says “no” is another point of friction.
