Several scholars of color and marginalized academics have said this several times on Twitter and here, but many people remain there because that’s where their communities reside and there are huge exit costs. Not everyone has the PRIVILEGE to leave a community behind.
I'm at a point where I'm honestly vaguely surprised that anyone who isn't an admitted fascist (or at least fascist-comfortable) and/or a corporate account is still actively on the former Twitter. The best time to have left is long gone, but the second-best time is now.

My mom is now in memory care. She's not known beyond our town. She was a beloved special ed tchr. She started a free cmty 🎄 dinner that now feeds ~1000 ppl. She started a prgm where local tradespeople do free repairs on seniors' homes. She org'd a team that creates winter warmth kits. I cld go on ❤️
