Reading, procrastinating, and no longer living out of a backpack in places both familiar and foreign, because it's (still) a damn pandemic. Mercenary educator. She/her.
Drawing parallels to how he was treated (socially) when seeking treatment (medically) for Lyme helped me wring an extra year of Covid caution out of my dad when he was “done” with it.

He did eventually cave, which still crushes me, but as a boomer white dude he had never experienced such disregard.

"The infant formula is still being found in multiple states, including at multiple Walmart, Target and Kroger locations, and at one or more Sprouts Organic Market, Safeway, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s and Star Market locations."

Besides, it was under Biden that Covid was declared “over” and data on it started disappearing.

The downfall of the CDC is at the feet of both parties, not just one.

(And I say this as someone in Chicago.)

This isn’t the time to armchair quarterback or tell others about the right or wrong way to act in these situations. The only wrong response is to not respond at all.

LA isn’t to blame, Chicago is likely only getting a respite because of the weather changing.

I mean, obviously it’s not hard! This reminder that it might actually be accomplishing something was just well-timed.

Like, within 20 min of even considering it, here you were. It was perfect.

ICE abducted two day laborers as they were walking into a local Ralph's today. I was interviewing staff and they were shook up; one seemed like he might even have been in shock. One said they had no idea this was happening here at all, but there have been dozens in the last week or two.

Alice was a friend, a mentor, and a guide to so many in the disability community, and especially in the realms of disability and technology and disabled-led design.

This one hurts bad, but some of her last words were "Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all."

Gonna try to hold that.

ALSO.
If you're just coming across this news now, and thinking about what you can do to support disabled people like Alice in your community.

WEAR A MASK.
