bckt-mcp: a MCP server for the bckt static site generator.

The idea is simple:
1. It is usually annoying to have to write the front matter by hand.
2. Most users have integrated (or will, soon) and AI tool in their blog posting flow.

Is it possible to make a static site work as a PDS?

For example, pre-render the expected API responses?
And if it can't be done 100%, which parts can and cannot?

(atproto noob questions)
Static site generators are simple, but if you've used them long enough you know there are a thousand details that can make your life easier or harder.

I finally built the SSG I always wanted: github.com/vrypan/bckt

A little proof of concept I've been working on, it's a version of Bluesky that you can run locally, even on your laptop, that pulls just the data you care about from the firehose, indexes it, and provides you an interface to view and interact with posts.

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."
President Macron: “Europeans, let's wake up!

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

(2024) Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz on how governments work.

I wonder if they see a problem with the current administration.

US bails out Argentina, soybean farmers feel betrayed. Interesting analysis.

> the real problem for Trump is that this bailout pits two very loyal constituencies against each other, hedge funds and soybean farmers.

Monopoly Round-Up: U.S. Farmers Revolt Over Trump's Argentina Bailout
The White House, facing angry farmers over a bailout of their competitors in Argentina, is trying to offer favors. Like cracking down on agri-business. Plus cringe shutdown politics, and more.

Slow Horses season 5 is out, but the reviews don't seem good.

Big fan, will watch it nevertheless.

Slow Horses season five review – not even Gary Oldman can salvage this TV mess
It’s the worst outing yet for the Slough House gang, with main characters having unnerving personality transplants and ‘action’ sequences taking place in penguin enclosures. Yikes!

I started blogging 20+ years ago, when nobody cared what a blog was. Many didn’t even know the Internet. It felt free. Then an audience came, self-awareness crept in, and posting got harder. I long for that freedom. Or is it I were 20 years younger too?

Noob questions:

1. Is there a way to have long posts in AT Proto?

2. Does it make sense to try and convert a self-hosted blog into a self-hosted PDS?

Web3 is focused on L1s, L2s, etc, but often ignores L0: people. But censorship resistance, and resilience in general, does not only come from tech specs. The actual relationships, sometimes mapped using tech, sometimes not, are equally important.

very excited to share this update about bringing AT to the IETF!

last week we uploaded two drafts to the IETF datatracker and today we heard that we’re approved to host a Birds of a Feather at IETF 124 (the formal meeting towards establishing a working group)
Taking AT to the IETF | Bluesky
Last week we posted two drafts to the IETF Data Tracker. This is the first major step towards standardizing parts of AT in an effort to establish long-term governance for the protocol.
