There are plenty of different interpretations of the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus in the Iliad. They've been portrayed as brothers, best friends and lovers throughout the years, and while we'll never collectively agree, it's undeniable that they've become queer icons

A binder is an article of clothing usually worn underneath other clothes to conceal or reduce the size of the wearer's breasts. Earlier versions of it throughout history were made out of gauze or tape, which often caused bruising and breathing issues

Much like carabiners, bowties are more than a fashion accessory. Lesbians and gay men alike have worn them throughout history as a way to protest against the expectations of gender expression, so it's become a symbol of pride and resistance to the community.

Day 20: scars

The queer experience goes hand in hand with the collection of scars, both emotional and physical. We can choose to see them as a symbol of the pain we've been through or a reminder of the freedom that we've earned as a result of the battles fought, but they'll always be with us.

From Vine to historical documents, queer couples have been hidden under the simple label "roommates" for centuries. Sometimes for safety, sometimes out of ignorance and homophobia, sometimes for comedic effect. It's an easy way to hide the truth without lying.
