Vr hypnotists are the niche within the niche that care a ton about microphone quality.

Also - if I'm being mean - make them beg you to keep petting them with animal sounds.

Ah! I love the taking-the-hand-away idea! So good 🧡 love the writeup

I know I'm necro-ing an un-fun topic, but Spanos had a similar idea.

I don't think it's going to have a severe impact. :/ Readily consuming misinformation isn't new for them or anyone.

Oh for sure!
- Notice the location of their hands in VR - the awareness that they're close to touching you.
- Notice the position of the key.
- Notice pressure/location/tension/chef's choice of feeling around insertion.
- Notice the changes as they turn it.
- Make the key erogenous, optionally!

Proprioceptive suggestions if ya haven’t tried that already! I’ll get out of the back seat now ^^()

Ah yeah fair. It's harmless as a metaphor. Labeling your parts and giving them names is begging for an iatrogenic result.
November 5, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Brains... don't work like that. It's a cognitive misattribution. It's not like they see a second little mini-brain on an fmri when they check this shit out.
November 4, 2025 at 9:47 AM
The supporting literature is garbage, the theory is garbage, the control is garbage, the concept of parts is garbage, and suggesting to the client they have some form of DID, they just need to find it is beyond irresponsible. You'd better hope they just end up with Munchausen syndrome.

Ugh.

- Just because there's evidence there's some effectiveness to a treatment, it doesn't mean the model is correct. 200 years people received treatment with bloodletting - they got better, but the bloodletting didn't help.

- IFS inherits the problems of vintage psychoanalysis - multiple parts and subconsciouses. Newer forms of psychoanalysis and self-psychology have tried to clean this up, but the model's been disproven time after time.
November 4, 2025 at 8:30 AM
- IFS in practice does not appear to be well regulated. It likely has the same problem hypnotherapy certifications have - you get an easy cert out of a few workshops that teach you garbage.
