your government mandated CanCon. I like cities, stories, and flat-faced dogs. Sometimes I talk academic integrity. Sometimes I help with @terrorcamp.bsky.social. T'karonto. (she/they)
I miss my doggie.

Do I experience a bolt of existential dread every time I interact with a single use plastic? Yes. But mending things I own staves it off a little bit.

Wow, it's almost like two decades of building condos no reasonable person could happily live in had consequences.

I'm 30 pages into this book and it's already my favourite thing I've read this year. More books should be about women in love with inanimate objects.

A gentleman thief.

Still my best baby buddy, from summer two years ago. Our last summer together. Golly - I miss him all the time.

Five days and the west coast already feels like a dream. Spectacular country. Really and truly.

Yo have you guys heard about national parks?

It's Thursday morning in Whitehorse. My last territorial capital. It's distinct from Yellowknife and Iqaluit. Very much its own place. The North is not a monolith!

I'm learning about Vancouver.

With some redditing I managed to fix my instant camera in time for my trip in a few weeks. First test picture: Levi the foster dog, who's been doing really well.

One hell of a sidewalk stack today. I was trying to carry it while walking the dog and a woman gave me a canvas bag out of pity.

As I stopped to take a picture of this tree with both pink and white flowers, a man yelled from across the street: "You match the blooms!" I looked to him and he gestured to his chest. I looked down at my own, covered in an old pink sweater. "Yes," I called back. Spring.

It's Independent Bookstore Day. I swung by a Different Booklist on Bathurst and Type Books on Queen W. Seven books later I made myself go home.

Mr. Levi found a tennis ball at Evergreen Brickworks.

A thing I've recently learned is that I hate posting. However, I love my new foster dog, Levi, and I think everyone should look at him.

Could you not... figure it out... by the context clues that were served to you? It was barely subtext? Are we this unable to interpret stories now?

Put a few things on the wall today. I'm gunna make it through this year, et cetera.

When I leave 2024 behind I say hello to the first year in over a decade that doesn't hold my special little guy. Sometimes it feels like saying goodbye again and again and again.

Last day of the year. I finish a book that feels like an emergency. I make an apron as a gift for someone not on bsky. I try to remember the bright moments of what was, without question, the worst year of my life.

Just read: Burmese Lessons, by Karen Connelly. The type of memoir I love. Connelly goes deep, exacting into her own place and choices, her desire. Real, whole, complete.

Just read: Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl, by Andrea Lawson. Wow! Prose that is so incredibly alive, it made me feel like running. Paul with all his complexities felt rock solid and true. Loved it.

That Taylor Swift can put on a show.

Just Watched: Never Look Away (2024). Very entertaining documentary - a function of its fascinating, exciting subject. Moth is a character you couldn't write because you'd be accused of going too far, of giving into fantasy. Some of the more "artistic " bits didn't quite land, but overall, great.
