i binged the entirety of death note in the past 48h, gotta be one of the most high school nerd views on everything of all time

seriously there's like one female character and she is less than 2d, and l and light only make stupid egotistical decisions

still found it compelling

i read the entirety of piranesi in like one night after coming back early drunk from a lesbian bar and my review is that it's a good book, but nothing compared to how i felt reading flights, which hit me very personally

paris is an excellent city

i don't know how to tell the average person how being trans works when the media insist on writing nonsense about it, and i'm starting to worry that there's no way out

i hope we find a good way to organise resistance soon, because technology and wealth inequality have made it so much harder

crazy how cass writes a (un)scientific report which makes 32 recommendations of mixed quality, and the uk govt decides to implement the secret 33rd recommendation of banning puberty blockers for kids

what are you doing? like, not even your expert report asked for this?

i have been americabashing a bit recently, i know developed countries have had similar issues, but no other has nearly as much influence, or has fallen nearly as far, as them

i think the developed world being forced to cut ties with the us is probably better in the long run (given their power and what else they have done recently), but it's still disappointing that they didn't come around to our way of thinking

maybe something more interesting will rise from their ashes

recently i've shifted from cooking medium effort all the time to low effort during the week and high effort at the weekend and it's so nice having the energy for my high effort meals, last week i did a saffron risotto and this week i did sushi with kitsune udon, very happy with how both turned out

it feels like more people are willing to take a stance against elon since the salute which is nice

having a hybrid (details not specified) contract is so good, means i can just go on holiday whenever i want if it's for up to a week and in a similar timezone, since i can just work as usual and they won't notice

i showed the game hyper light drifter to a friend yesterday. i almost always recommend it as my favourite game ever, although i only did one playthrough of it for about 2 weeks, nearly 8 years ago. seeing it again, it completely lived up to how i remembered it. absolutely beautiful in every way.

the fact that it's got to this point in the us really drills in just how badly it's going for our western, egalitarian, liberal moral code. how do you deradicalise half a nation?

being a minority group in a woke place is wacky because generally everyone around me knows which social assumptions will hurt me if they use them around me, but time and time again they prove that they don't really understand why they're just doing their best
January 19, 2025 at 12:09 PM
tiktok being banned in the us because it's foreign influence is so funny to me because really it's a propaganda tool just as bad as twitter but they don't mind twitter because it has an american calling the shots

planning holidays is so fun

i've started watching altered carbon, the setting is amazing but so far the characters all seem to have absolutely no depth to them

corruption of american politics by their wealthy has just become very apparent, but i suspect part of the reason for that is the new guy just doesn't worry about being visibly corrupt - inequality had been growing since the 70s and their politicians have sat idly by.

i've started reading flights by olga tokarczuk and i'm really enjoying it
