Dull old man; now Dutch
In a previous century I lived in student dorms with a communal phone (so in practice, outgoing only), then in student houses with no phone at all. My mother had to call my uni department to pass on the news of my grandmother's death.

(But I don't think any of us thought that was futuristic.)

(Sint Maarten is on 11 November; Sinterklaas arrives the following Saturday (and the entire country is expected to observe kayfabe and insist that he is a real person who comes on a real boat from the very-real place "Spain")

One of my many brothers-in-law lives in the Achterhoek (please, no tittering!) and uh you can really tell your in dorp territory by the unabashed black face of the pieten accompanying visiting Sinterklazen. (Obviously in my prachtwijk of Groningen this would very much not be stood for.)

Hey I found an explicit, credible threat to commit murder, from an entity that has committed murder in exactly this way previously.

People always complain that I "don't read the article", but have they considered that I simply can't actually read at all?

Frankly given the email clearly states that the information it contains is confidential I feel a sacred trust may already have been betrayed by distributing it at all

As an occasional reluctant math tutor I experience enough of this to say: maybe, but it doesn't generally lead to passing grades on tests

They have "Stick with Trump if you don't want stochastic terrorists to take grievous offence" as a convenient backup too, while stocks last

Well, like many "authors" he is now dead so we'll probably never know for sure

We still have a literacy crisis, because micromanaged test targets focus on "reading comprehension" of brain-numbingly dull texts so that almost all kids develop a Pavlovian aversion to reading anything at all, but they mostly *can* read if they absolutely have to

I for one definitely did not hear W Streeting's team promise "a fresh steaming turd on every Big Mac!", but I still think someone should challenge them to deny that's the core of their plan

They literally gave B Dylan the Nobel Prize for Shitposting (and Harmonica), and he's never looked back!

Huh, too me it's a basically generic Four-Color-Printing-Era Supervillain color scheme

But if Something Terrible should happen to BBC News (which seems pretty likely), these useless bald midlibs will need someone to blame, and that is after all our* designated role in things

I'm GenX but I din't see that Space Kaboom. (I also skipped The 9/11 Show later, figuring it was unlikely to be unedifying.)

On the other hand I am basically a hot mess, so who knows really?
