I've been insanely busy with classes the past few months. So, today was very overdue!

I finished the door system and now keys, switches, numbered monster kills, and events work

I drew the town guard sprite

I added descriptions to the inventory

Defeated the Lurker tonight as Brazwiz and retired to a Fortress! Only my 3rd success at this game amongst a pile of many defeats lol.

I drew my first NPC sprite to match the tileset aesthetic. It's pretty basic, but I'm working with 16x16 pixels for this project. Next is to turn it into a template for future NPCs.

Small update on my village tileset.
+ Fixed the window alignment to better fit the houses
+ Redid the well to like like a well lol
+ Added TREES!!!! They're a bit rough still, but they work!

It's finally getting that atmosphere I wanted. :)

I've finally hit that point where I feel like I've got a good foundation built up for my game. Now I need to actually plot out the rest.

I've had a rough idea, but I picked up a notebook to carry with me and start writing and mapping everything out fully.

I broke out my XP Pen tablet and drew a couple of key designs in Aseprite (pun intended). It's a start and I think I'm in the right direction.

I'll probably be drawing my own assets going forward instead of using purchased place holders.

It's been a busy summer. Finally got some time for my adventure game!

I've started working on a basic event system and am setting it up for the doors first.

I'm also considering getting rid of the leveling system and going zelda-esque item/gear based instead.

Finally finding time to get back into things, so I worked on setting up a push block that can trigger switches.

I'm working on the switch script next so that it can open doors or reveal treasure.

NPCs can now move around and will face you when you talk.

NPC's can follow a path back and forth or complete a circuit. They can also walk around at random just like the enemies as well.

Next will be implementing the same thing into the monsters.

I'm still alive.

I've been incredibly busy between moving, dealing with school, and work.

I've had some spare moments to work on my project, and will start posting regularly again now that things are balancing out! :)

Been pretty busy this past week, but got a little dev time in.

I added loading screens to help with the bigger areas. I had some weird behavior with the tileset and camera without them.

Added sfx for sword, bow, and shops. Also fixed the interaction detection.

Small update:

+Showing a list of all assets being used.
+Added the tavern.
+Added music based on location. No interruptions if it's not supposed to be unique.
+Dialogue and signs have sfx too!
+Shopkeep now has a randomized greeting.

This was a lot harder than I was expecting, but I got a functioning, and reusable shop setup!

There are a couple of small errors that I need to fix still, but it works! It checks the players gold and if they have prerequisite items before selling to the player.

Not a big update. Added coins to the player inventory along with animation to the amounts that you pickup. The amounts are randomized and increase with luck skill.

I also have the events and framework in place for shops. Still more to go though to make it function.

Updated the town a bit and removed the enemies for now. I got a working scene manager and added in the shop. Next will be actually making the shop, the inn, and adding gold to the inventory.

I added some interactable signs to give some flavor to the game as well.

Now I just need to build an event tree and shop system. I will now be disappearing again for a little while. lol.

Added damage numbers to the player, and fixed an error in the code that caused the numbers to always be red after a crit hit.

Finally built a pause menu! Only continue and quit game buttons work, but it definitely makes it feel more complete.

Next is NPC dialogue!

I've gotten a lot done in the past couple of days, and I'm loving how this is coming along. Here's the bow in action!

I also have HP bars for the enemies, as well as floating damage numbers with working crit hit chances and damage.
