It’s a bit of a rough day to get on a plane reading about a mass shooting in Rhode Island and land to read about a mass shooting in Bondi.

Happy Thanksgiving from Down Under! What am I thankful for? The opportunity to live in Australia. We’ve been here almost a year and a half now and still love it.

Farewell, Game Pass. You haven't consistently been worth $20/m USD to me for a while, but it was innocuous enough to keep it rolling. Saving $30 each month now can probably buy the games that I actually play on you over the course of a year outright and then I own them forever(ish).

Another beautiful day for a show! We went to &Juliet at the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta. It’s our second time there and our first time for &Juliet. Amazing. Highly recommend it if you like jukebox musicals and a little riff on The Bard.

We went to Book of Mormon today. We’ve seen it a number of times in the US, but it’s been a while. It was weird hearing so many Americanisms here. Also, a little hard to hear the description of Salt Lake City being a place where human life has worth these days…

What a great day for a community BBQ at Brickyard Park!

We went to Theatre Royal Sydney for Here You Come Again today. It’s a fun show in a great theatre. We’ve seen a few jukebox musicals in our time, but this was probably the best so far. Wonderful music and a good story.

Terrible pictures of a beautiful lunar eclipse earlier this morning. Sometimes I miss my old camera. It was nice that the weather cooperated and we could see it clearly from our balcony.

We took a weekend trip to the farthest north point we’ve been to yet: Newcastle. It’s less than three hours away by train and only $8 each way. Gale force winds didn’t stop us from enjoying the beach.

Step back and take it in: the US is entering full authoritarian mode | Jonathan Freedland
Trump’s dictator-like behaviour is so brazen, so blatant, that paradoxically, we discount it. But now it’s time to call it what it is, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

It’s nice after taking your Laurel out for some bushland adventures to be able to come home and have a dedicated Laurel washing bay in your apartment tower’s car park. Sure, some people use it for cars, too…

We went to the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival today! It was raining too hard last year, so this was our first time. Very pretty.

A year later, we finally unpacked most of the bins from our shipping container. The place feels a bit more lived in now.

Last night we went to see 1984 the play at Riverside Theatres. It was our first time at that venue, but we’re pretty familiar with Parramatta at this point. The show was great and topical these days. 😉 Riverside seems to only do short runs so last night was the last showing. We’ll be back. ❤️

It’s our one year Oziversary! We landed in Sydney a year ago today. We’re getting settled into a new apartment this weekend, but hopefully that isn’t a yearly thing. 😉 It’s been quite a year. I’m glad to be here.

It’s been a pretty wild month, but we went to watch a bit of murder (And Then There Were None at Theatre Royal Sydney) and get our sing on at Vivid Sings in Darling Harbour. A fun night out and our first Vivid.

We’re now officially property owners! So glad to have that weight off our shoulders. Now the fun task is trying to book movers when everyone else is moving as well.

Home again. Home again. Jiggity jig. At least where “jig” is eleven hours… It’s been fun, Melbourne. See you later in the year!

Incidentally a certain Nazi doctor tried to divide autistics into those who deserved to live and those who didn't, too. They used to name some of us after him.

Our first dawn service in remembrance of ANZAC Day. A very moving ceremony, except for the aholes who tried to shout down any of the speakers acknowledging the First People’s ownership/stewardship of the land. That was an embarrassment.

Our first real holiday trip since moving here, We caught the train to Melbourne!

Our first concert in Australia: Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Enmore! The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our train driver home lived in Scripps Ranch San Diego for a time!

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but
2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but
3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So
4. Now the LLM code points to malware.
LLMs hallucinating nonexistent software packages with plausible names leads to a new malware vulnerability: "slopsquatting."
LLMs can't stop making up software dependencies and sabotaging everything
: Hallucinated package names fuel 'slopsquatting'
