Building Linux for aarch64 on macOS needs a virtualisation strategy. I’ve used OrbStack and it’s been alright but today it started getting OOM killed. Because OrbStack uses ramfs

Fun discovery of the day. It seems like the mainline kernel we're trying to run on our NanoPC-T6 lacks support for the reset button.

I've uploaded a minimal nixos config reproducing the crash I've been debugging: https://github.com/DivineGod/nixos-rtw88-crash

I've also created a quick blog post: https://blog.mjolner.tech/debugging-rtw88/

Decided to source and build a SimpleCore Redux¹ by Rolohaun.

The frame kit is from Funssor but can also be self sourced from standard length 2020 extrusions

It uses the same bed as the ender 3 so will have a similar build volume

One thing I wish MCU silicon vendors would do (e.g. STM32, Nordic) is be more upfront on the "bill of material" of IP blocks they use in their chips.

Many different chips re-use the same IP blocks for UARTs, SPI, DMA, etc. Knowing when this is/isn't the case makes writing drivers WAY easier.
