A little gender exploration from Without Wings
“My name is not mine to give any longer.” They nodded in understanding, though they could not possibly understand. “Names can come later. How about pronouns, then?” Angels did not have time for such frivolities that the kith seemed to so revere. But then, I was no longer an angel. Perhaps I could make time for such indulgences. I was made in the image of my saint, so I suppose by definition I was a woman…but I did not know what it meant to be a woman. I didn’t know what it meant to be a man, either. “What do you use?” I asked. “They and them on most days. Sometimes he, when the wind feels right,” they responded, closing their eyes and smiling as a breeze tousled the hair that brushed over their ears. I turned the words over. ‘They’ felt right enough. Not that I was truly sure what right felt like. “You may use they for me as well,” I said.

Ser Kit is also from False Knight and is agender. Kit is Aloïs’ mentor and a knight in the Order of the Edelweiss. Kit is a morovian, a species that is birthed by the Maelstrom. Mael has a habit of ‘adopting strays’, and meir home is filled with people mael has rescued in one way or another. 4/?

Líadan allowed herself to marvel at the twinkling lights for a moment. It wasn't often she was able to see the stars, and even now, they were obscured by a faint shimmer of magic. Val'hoon's three moons-Mythenryl, Cherion, and Sendry-hung low in the sky. The arrangement of their phases caused them to appear like two hooded eyes and a smile watching over them. Líadan had, of course, heard the legends that the three moons were manifestations of The Fates. She had always been dubious of that claim, but seeing them watch over her now, she could understand why kith believed it.

I have a poem about this
OBIT Lilly, she/her, died slowly and enthusiastically over the course of a year. The first nail in her coffin was a haircut. A mullet. Because that was the gayest haircut she could think of. Her pronouns died slowly, until she/her was but a whisper on the lips of family members that just don't get it. She is survived by Lilly, they/them. They are happy. They still have a mullet. They see her in the mirror sometimes, on the days when femininity drops by to say hello. They love her, for they would not be here today without her.

Aloïs hadn’t bothered packing their plate mail, knowing that they would very likely be going out on the water, so there was no need to coordinate helping each other into the suits. Gambesons slipped easily over their underclothes, followed by the ever finicky hauberk. Aloïs donned her padded coif, rubbing her thumb over the lavender stitching Jett had added by the ear flaps. She looped her sheath around her waist and slung her quiver over her shoulder, securing her recurved bow to the side of it. She handed Kit meir helmet and tucked hers under her arm. Cooper: An elderly woman with stark white hair screaming with a dark hallway behind her Genre: Horror Summary review: Reap, Sow is a surreal tale written with beautiful and evocative prose. While the ending was perhaps a little predictable, it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story, as Cooper pulled me from scene to scene with some of the most imaginative turns of phrases and descriptions that I could practically feel and hear. For those that love horror with a strong psychological element and speculative elements akin to magical realism, REap, Sow is sure to please.

Grima cocked her head as she handed me a trowel and demonstrated how to carefully dig around the roots of a wispy flower with tendril-like blue and white petals—the same flower that I saw on my journey to Myrka. She deposited the blossom into a new hole and patted the dirt around it firmly, pushing it up around the stem to give it extra support. “Everyone chooses a name in their own time. It’s an important thing, a name. Not something I think one should rush into choosing,” she said. “I wouldn’t worry too much about how long it takes you. We’re happy to wait for you.” My shoulders relaxed. I suspected I would spend the remainder of my mortal years finding ways to repay Yaran for pulling me to a place so kind and patient.
