This is how broken our lobbying laws are.

Every resources minister since 2001 went on to work for fossil fuel companies & 8 ex-ministers & senior advisers now lobby for gambling💰

It's time for complete reform of lobbying rules + independent watchdog.

'Revolving door' between politics and lobbying rings transparency alarm bell
Lobbying has become big business, with around 727 lobbyists registered in the national capital, more than three times the number of elected officials sitting in parliament.

For 4 years I’ve called for truth in political advertising. With the rise of AI-generated misinformation & deepfakes, there is no excuse for inaction. The risks to democracy are real and urgent. I’m once again calling on the Govt to support my bill & ensure voters are protected from lies.

Today I reintroduced the govt’s own bill to ensure truth in political advertising. With AI deepfakes, deceptive campaigns & growing voter distrust, we must act. 89% of Australians support this reform—there’s no excuse not to pass it before the next election.

Ahead of the Treasurer’s roundtable, my Re-energised Economy plan sets out bold reforms to boost productivity, raise revenue, and phase out fossil fuel subsidies—future-proofing Australia’s economy. We have the tools. Now we need the political will.

As the govt prepares to set Australia’s 2035 climate target, ambition must be matched by integrity. Real climate action means cutting emissions at the source, ending fossil fuel expansion, and delivering transparent, accountable reduction pathways across every sector.

The Govt’s delay of the National Climate Risk Assessment is deeply concerning. Australians deserve to know the risks & suppressing this info ahead of the 2035 target decision undermines trust. I’m calling for its release, a national adaptation plan & at least 75% emissions reduction by 2035.

This term, I’ll be reintroducing my Clean Up Politics Act. It would give the public access to ministerial diaries. Australians deserve to know who Ministers are meeting with, when, and why - and how government decisions are made.

We need to restore trust in government.

Ministers are blocking access to diary entries that show when and where they attended meetings and meals facilitated by Labor’s fundraising program.

As an example, yesterday @jessness4deakin.bsky.social launched her candidacy with the @voicesofdeakin.bsky.social community.

Her rival’s primary vote in Deakin is just 41.51% – the tipping point.

It means Ness can win from a primary as low as the mid-teens! 🤯
