Is it pointless these days? Is AI going to be filling that need now? Inquiring minds want to know.
Also, any of you folks out there do this and have any advice? I just recently signed up with voices and have been piling on the auditions. So hopefully I’ll get some bites soon!

Is getting into voice acting pointless these days with AI?
No. But talent + skill is much more important than it was even 5 years ago. AI can replicate poor VO, especially if it's short-form content. It CANNOT replicate emotional nuance.
So, education/training should be your top priority.

#MNTwins said Walker Jenkins is dealing with lingering soreness in his ankle and they opted for the cortisone injection. They're pushing him toward a return near the end of May out of caution.

AI voiceover is like a novice voice actor who has some natural voice acting chops BUT...
can't take direction...
or repeat what they did...
or understand why they did it...
or vary each take so they sound different in subtle but impactful ways from one take to the next...

I don't think people warn aspiring voice actors enough about the daily rejection you will receive in this biz.
Couple the rejection with being by yourself most days, and it can become deeply isolating. And very bad for your mental health.

As a professional narrator, here are my answers...
1. Non-fiction lends itself really well to author-narrated work. If you have the experience or the skillset, narrating your own fictional (fantasy) work can absolutely work.
But I lean pro for both. Not only for quality but for PRODUCTION SPEED...

As a professional narrator, here are my answers...

I have enormous respect for professional voice actors. It is an extremely difficult skill that is constantly disrespected by people who have no real understanding of it.
No matter how many bad experiences I’ve had, I will always root for all voice actors to succeed.

This is why aggregation isn't as harmless as *some* aggregators will try to tell you it is, especially if you do it incorrectly or irresponsibly. "I think the Yankees believe," which is extremely hedge-y, again, which is fine, can very quickly transform into something more definite-sounding!
