My husband and I have had so many conversations with sales reps who seem genuinely bewildered as to why we don't want unnecessary apps or wifi hookups on stuff. One was a grill. I straight-up had to tell the guy "if a thing is capable of making fire, I don't want it connected to the internet."

Well yeah, a lot of schools are phasing out legacy admission so they have to find SOME way to thin out the competition for their precious offspring. And they've gotten this far on lazy propaganda so if it ain't broke...

Watching (or reading) horror can absolutely have a cathartic effect when you’re anxious. It’s the same reason watching a really sad movie and having a good cry can help when you’re going through a breakup.

A centrist is off the table in the present climate. A centrist Republican wouldn't get past the opening stages of a primary, and a centrist Democrat will just get painted as a radical leftist by the media until centrist voters write off any attempt to appeal to them as insincere (see: Harris 2024.)

I’m seeing the occasional post about people feeling weird about making art while the Horrors are so damn persistent. But I don’t know how I’d be managing without my TBR pile or my records or a new TV show. It’s good and important to stay informed and involved, but please, also keep making stuff.
