There’s polling that shows that Walz was the most popular candidate on either ticket, I doubt a different VP pick would have moved the needle.

Also, my genuine sympathies for the absolute Greek-myth-level task that is going to be this years’ “Worst Takes” episode.

Thank you guys for this one. The mass gaslighting about this guy (including from so many supposedly on the left) has been making me feel like I’ve been losing my entire goddamn mind.

My husband and I have had so many conversations with sales reps who seem genuinely bewildered as to why we don't want unnecessary apps or wifi hookups on stuff. One was a grill. I straight-up had to tell the guy "if a thing is capable of making fire, I don't want it connected to the internet."

Well yeah, a lot of schools are phasing out legacy admission so they have to find SOME way to thin out the competition for their precious offspring. And they've gotten this far on lazy propaganda so if it ain't broke...

God, I'm so bored with coddling these people. Look, for what I'm sure is the millionth time, a guy who brags about committing sexual assault runs on a platform that basically amounts to ethnic cleansing and you go into the voting booth and say, "yes, please!" conclusions are gonna get drawn, sorry.

Aww, it's the super-reasonable and sustainable plan that caused me to develop fear foods! Couldn't have happened to a nicer company.

Why do these dudes all seem to think that masculinity involves throwing tantrums over stuff that doesn't actually affect them and whining about being held accountable for their actions or asked to consider someone else's needs?

Is it just me or is their idea of masculinity a bit...toxic?

See, we don't need to abandon progressive principles, we just need someone who can effectively communicate what they actually are.

Exhibit A.

I can’t remember ever getting this choked up at a TRAILER. Looks gorgeous! Can’t wait!

Just straight-up admitting that they think certain ideas are illegal. Cool, I feel safe now.

Watching (or reading) horror can absolutely have a cathartic effect when you’re anxious. It’s the same reason watching a really sad movie and having a good cry can help when you’re going through a breakup.

Ugh. Why is she like this?
April 8, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Oof, yeah, I’m so hesitant to make a call like that, but one fake story would be more than enough ammo for the right to denounce every story as fake.

There was always going to be a wave of “no, not like that” as soon as people started to “do something.”
April 6, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Hang on, you’re saying that people actually giving a shit about each other is necessary for a functioning society?

Translation: “I know you’re right but I’d feel better if you stopped respecting people who make me uncomfortable.”

Ignore this nonsense.

I mean the Democrats have been looking for a way to get young men back…
April 5, 2025 at 1:26 PM
A centrist is off the table in the present climate. A centrist Republican wouldn't get past the opening stages of a primary, and a centrist Democrat will just get painted as a radical leftist by the media until centrist voters write off any attempt to appeal to them as insincere (see: Harris 2024.)

It all matters. Even the frivolous stuff. In some cases, ESPECIALLY the frivolous stuff.

I’m seeing the occasional post about people feeling weird about making art while the Horrors are so damn persistent. But I don’t know how I’d be managing without my TBR pile or my records or a new TV show. It’s good and important to stay informed and involved, but please, also keep making stuff.
