Reaper is pretty awesome. The license is very reasonable but the free trial is out of this world! That's why I always recommend it.

Audacity isn't bad but it's just not as powerful or as detailed. For most VO it's perfectly fine though. What areas are you playing in?

It's definitely worth playing with but I still recommend reaper for leveling up from audacity. Little know fact, audacity actually does have a spectral view to let you do more precise edits.
