A year ago I decided I was going to take a break from alcohol for December. I don't know if I really had a *problem* problem - I was perfectly functional - but it was a habit that had become pretty deeply entrenched, and I kind of wanted to prove to myself that I could. 🧵/1

Last opening theme for now is "Moments of Clarity" - an animated web-series for grown-ups, created by Tim Logan & Jess Murray, and starring Gen Fricker, Luke McGregor, Nina Oyama and a bunch of other people not on Bsky yet. More people should have seen this - it was brilliant.

The last full series I worked on (before the then-government kneecapped the kids TV production industry) was "Dumbotz". This was to robots what Fanshaw and Crudnut was to alien slugs. There's some chiptunes stuff here, some sampled speak-n-spell, some floppy disk drives... you name it.

Maybe my favourite: "Fanshaw and Crudnut" was another kids series about two inept alien slugs who get into misadventures. This is from the Christmas special. Ridiculous, surreal, absurd fun. I started by cribbing mercilessly from ZZ Top, then added orchestra and theremin and went from there.

This was my first series on music back in 2013. "Buzz Bumble" - a cartoon about a bunch of bugs putting on theatre shows in a cardboard box. An early draft had a dozen overdubbed kazoos, but we landed on this sung version. Singing in character is great fun 🙂

I'm also a husband and dad, and I adore my lovely family. Lovely wife Clare would prefer to stay un-pictured for the moment, but these are my two boys. They are infuriating and exhausting and hilarious and I love them beyond any words can express.

I also composed and produced music for several animated TV series, and a bunch of other little projects. Tonnes of fun. That phase has largely wound down now, but I absolutely loved it.

So my bio starts with "musician", and that's the thing I've been for about the longest. Countless gigs around Hobart and surrounds (not always in a tie), recorded and released two fairly well liked/reviewed (albeit niche) albums with my old band 'The Third Ending'

Thought one of our kids was farting this morning, but turns out our elderly dog had copious poop stuck in her butt fur. Thank you Pepper for keeping life interesting.

How it started / how it’s going

We took Pepper to Great Bay over the weekend. It’s the same beach we took her and her sister for their very first swim more than 14 years ago. Look how happy she is 🥰
