Yeah I am hesitant when people talk about the empire dying. Like it is, but at such a rate that it can and will inflict so much suffering. Took a century for the Ottomans to finally collapse….with a final genocide to cap it off. Now is the time for monsters.

There’s always Rednote. I’m not sure if I’m joking or not honestly.

Damn that sucks. You going to jump to another platform or is this the end of the road?

I do wish Trek wasn’t so post-resource scarcity though because they can just hand wave. Instead of the Earth government funding Joe Sisko’s business, supplying his passion, it is just a matter of replicators. Though we see for sure the Picards not replicating. Not sure about ingredients for Sisko
December 10, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Yeah Sisko’s dad does it for the love of the game. Which is one thing I love, that is the leisure communism is intending to enable people to have. After all why wouldn’t people still run restaurants? Even IRL most family single location places are not making a profit ever. It’s a hobby

The skip over the purges and terrors and all the other stuff that is inevitable in the restructuring of society. Hell the Trek nuclear war serves that purpose instead, clearing the slate. It’s to easy, it’s Communist without the communism in a way.

The Ferengi were intended to be that, but in the most cartoonish, non-threatening way. It’s similar to one of the many problems with Animal Farm, the external pressure from people who want to literally exterminate their society is absent. It goes back to the western left’s need for perfection
December 9, 2025 at 7:11 PM
But it feels very western. This skip right to the perfect system perfectly implemented. It fits into the traps a lot of westerners set for themselves, expecting utopia and then when it doesn’t happen opposing Actually Existing Socialism. The federation has no powerful external capitalist enemy.

Star Trek is Posadist. But seriously I find Trek’s future a bit disappointing but for the opposite reason. I don’t want the skip to Fully Automated, etc. I feel like trek is too easy. They get their communist utopia without the sacrifices and work doing so would take. I know people like the utopia

It was a great run. Sad it’s over, but so happy that you’re excited about this new direction.

Fuck! I’m telling you, Luddites had the correct idea

I just don’t have that same excitement for the franchise that I used to. No singular moment caused this though. I think fandom fatigue is a real thing.
