There's so much wrong with MacOS 26, but one of the small things that constantly trips me up and pisses me off is that a shortcut to a folder on a NAS no longer reconnects to the NAS if it's been disconnected. Instead I get this completely unhelpful error.

The number of basic things broken in iOS 26 beggars belief. Put aside how unusable the UI has become in Safari or Facetime, or how slow on-device search is, and just look at how Photos fails to load the map.
Just an unmitigated disaster.

As an update, yes it was a bolide and it was caught on a camera (my dashcam). Watch right after we pass the orange street light on the left.

It’s wild isn’t it? My 4-yo is as obsessed with the Shinkansen as I an despite never having been on one. Just such a joy to ride; he’s spent a while crying that it’s so far away.

By the way, I'm now almost convinced that I saw a SAR arc slightly to the south of DC. I got a handful of photos of it over the evening. Anyone else see it? @samer.is @ianlivingston.bsky.social

Round 2, but through a proper camera. You can see the shimmer properly, which I could only make out faintly with my eyes.
