four tracks in and i am enjoying the garden route the most because it is the most far removed from traditional black metal in sound, especially THOSE GUITAR TONES but up 'til now as much as i've been enjoying the songs i am longing for more risks

and yet, i am not enjoying this one so much, i'll probably give it another shake but infinite granite is so immediately accessible that i'll probably end up forgetting i'm listening to it and letting the radio formed from it play

ordinary corrupt human love was nice in that the production sound was really sinewy and fuzzy and leant to an old-school black metal sound but so much of it was more in a post-rock direction, again deafheaven arranged sounds in such a way that i am not used to for the genres they perform in

in all seriousness i love shoegaze but again there is so little here that i like about shoegaze, just like with their more black-metallic output. yet this album is also Good. why is that. why did i skip talking about ordinary corrupt human love. delete the thread

i am immediately having a lot of fun with infinite granite where i did not previously, i don't recall why i didn't gel with it but this time around the sound and soaring whispy vocals have me immediately hooked, so much better than all the angry yelling previously, why do people like metal

new bermuda was alright, i think i need to give it another go because i was too caught up in the lack of speed, but i remember liking shiv mehra's creepers a lot, i think a lot about why i like blackgaze so much and so little of those reasons are present on deafheaven's work
