I dig horror as a genre when you can actually fight against the thing chasing you (alan wake 2, resident evil franchise).

I cannot play ones where your only option is to run though (outlast, alien isolation).

Former is more of a thriller type thing which I dig, latter gives me issues sleeping.

You can join at any time, leave at any time, aren't restricted to union-only work while in a union.

The legal framework of the US is drastically different so I can't really comment on it. What SAG is offering may very well be a good deal, but it feels off looking from the outside.

Not sure what you meant, but yeah, a large chunk of European countries prioritizes freedom of association above union benefits, so most function in an open-shop setup (no membership or payment required).

Even then, the fees themselves are drastically smaller than what sag demands.

Looking at the agreement itself, based on my understanding (and the info I've read from other VAs), they have no jurisdiction, therefore cannot interfere in any way.
April 6, 2025 at 10:30 AM
To my own personal understanding of the situation, the sag must-join clause is unenforceable for international talent, as well as any US talent that is in a “right to work” state.

I’ve heard others claim its “too flimsy” and “not enough”, but any protection is better than no protection. And this will be much more easily supported by a much larger chunk of the global community. Also there is precedent given other two hoyo projects have AI riders.

The issues a lot of ppl have are with the interim agreement and the impact on non-union VAs.

Looking from the outside (especially from europe), the way American unions operate really does feel awful and not many can stomach the way SAG is working. Union-shops are illegal in most of europe.

Serious question, why isn’t the current goal to get Genshin to sign the NAVA AI rider?

Looking at the community lately they all seem to want AI protections for the VAs (lots of misinformation going around but the community as a whole really does care).
April 2, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Just because SAG has a monopoly over the industry does not mean they are the best solution. I will support actors fighting for AI clauses because fuck genAI, but I do not see SAG as the best answer to that. You could def argue they are the lesser of two evils though, which may be right in some cases
March 31, 2025 at 5:44 AM
This all comes back to SAG then. If they cannot enforce their own rules, who can confidently say they can enforce the things they are fighting for?

I will say though, if Genshin does have no AI driver that should be fought for and amended, but the interim is a lot more than just that.
March 31, 2025 at 5:44 AM
What is the studio supposed to do then? They already have the protections in place, if they were to revoke them and change the terms of the contracts at any time I fully support the workers striking. Signing the interim agreement has a lot more weight than just AI protections.
March 30, 2025 at 10:47 PM
I just do not see the point of striking against a company for conditions you already have. If a studio has openly stated they value their employees and have AI protections, what's the point of actively harming them?
March 30, 2025 at 10:09 PM
So does someone being Fi-Core mean they are still forced into a strike if SAG declares one?

The case could be different for Genshin, but again, ZZZ's studio has openly stated they do provide AI protections. Is this the reason the two recasts that happened there had way less attention?
March 30, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Also, adding onto this, if the FIRST RULE of SAG was overlooked for well over 5 years in the case of genshin, what's to say they can't just ignore their own rulebook in the future?
March 30, 2025 at 9:27 PM
But answer this, why is Hoyo at fault here? All the striking VAs violated rule 1 of their own union (do not work non-union projects), which was overlooked for YEARS.

They already have AI protections (as stated by ZZZ's studio), how is this not about anything but SAG wanting to expand influence?

As for the support, most of the online games get put on a skeleton crew at best (the division 2 is basically a corpse at this point) or get outright shut down at worst (xdefiant). R6S is kind of the exception since it is their one big hit out of a sea of washed/mid online games.
January 7, 2025 at 11:48 AM
I would describe their games as the definition of mediocre.
Every recent Ubisoft game seems to follow the identical open world formula with a few gimmicks here and there. If you played one, you played them all.
January 7, 2025 at 11:48 AM
If you exit to main menu before the action resolves, yea. If you wait until you can act again it’s too late. Had a lot of games where I fat fingered the confirm button before selecting a full hand, and that trick saved me more than I can count.

The other nominees were nine sols, hades 2, metaphor and neva. In comparison SH2 (as good as a remake it is) is a generic UE5 game.
Realism should not be a factor (and probably even a negative) in a category rating outstanding visual STYLE.
January 1, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Have a go at nine sols if you want an action game. The game is one of my biggest surprises of 2024, and is on par (if not better) than hollow knight.
January 1, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Especially when the other finalists were mouthwashing, ffxvi and stalker 2. Anything else winning would be better.
January 1, 2025 at 8:13 PM
Literally ANY other finalist winning would be better. UE5 visual slop winning over nine sols, hades II and metaphor is genuinely a travesty.
January 1, 2025 at 8:12 PM
I use this phrasing a lot in loot based games that have abysmal drop rates.
Warframe, for example, has decent drop rates, and you can reasonably get something you want in a week.
The first descendant on the other hand has atrocious drop rates and wants you to spend weeks grinding.

This exact same discourse was had in early overwatch, but unlike overwatch marvel rivals has 8 years of precedent and is actively choosing to ignore history.
Most I’ve seen complain about role queue are duelist mains due to queue times, well think about the people locking tank/supp so you have fun.
