Good point! An important task for VDL would be succession planning. And Article 17 TEU should be tweaked to include a term limit for the Commission President. Not sure she has either on the radar for her Aix la Chapelle speech today. But in 2034 she would still be younger than Trump or Biden.

My thoughts: SPD will certainly claim Labour and Social Affairs and get more key portfolios

SPD:
Lars Klingbeil: Finance (and Vice Chancellor?)
Boris Pistorius: Defence, Home Affairs or Foreign Affairs
Bärbel Bas: Health and Social Affairs or Chair of SPD parliamentary group (after Klingbeil)

All other current SPD ministers uncertain/shaky (“wackelig”), according to BILD

My thought: CSU to get max three ministries, one of them a key portfolio, always claimed transport in the past

Alexander Dobrindt: Home Affairs
Florian Hahn: Defence
Dorothea Bär: not clear (Digital Affairs?)
Günther Felßner: Agriculture

My thoughts: Did BILD forget Jens Spahn? International favourites such as Norbert Röttgen and Armin Laschet with little chances. Ralph Brinkhaus? Baden Württemberg? Andreas Jung? Environment and Climate Protection?
