My draft-writing momentum is such a fragile thing that I try not to stop to research. I add a to-do if I run across something minor I'm not sure of, but I don't actually look it up (and fix the text, if needed) until my next pass.

If it's a HUGE question, I'll stop to research, but I time-box it.

Oh, yeah! It's so much more configurable and flexible than the notebooks I used to use, and that extends even to paper type. Mine always have a few sheets of grid paper at the back for when I'm trying to diagram a building's floor plan or sketch an exterior map.

I use Scrivener for this kind of thing already, but I think having something physical would have a similar effect to what I find happens with a TUL disc notebook and a fountain pen.

I'm considering creating something that's kind of a cross between those scrapbooks, a commonplace book, and a novel-planning or world building workbook. I could run off a copy for myself at any of half a dozen POD shops for a reasonable price, I'm sure.
