Everyone loved the Somali street fries, green apple sucker ice cream, bison meatball sub, and sweet squeakers. No one liked birthday cake cookie dough on a stick, chicken fried bacon fries, cinnasugar crust tidbits, dill pickle iced tea, land of 10,000 cakes, smashadilla, and the uncrustaburger

Hey, an occasional reminder:

Should you be fighting fascism here in the US? Yes, you should!

Are you the one who decides how best you can do that? Yes, you are!

Should the people who decide that you're not doing it right (i.e., the way they want you to) fuck off into the sun? Yes, they should!

NEITHER MINNESOTA SENATOR HAS MADE A STATEMENT ABOUT HOW SHE IS PLANNING TO VOTE.

So they both need to hear from you, if you're a Minnesotan.

Over on Whatever today, I've written a longish piece on billionaires and boycotts, how boycotts are effective (and are not), what to do when you don't feel you can boycott, and what to say when someone is telling you that you're not doing it right:

It's so funny when a customer says "How do I get your job? I'd love to get paid to knit all day!" This is a shop sample, not a personal project, and it's the last thing I get to do after stocking, cleaning, helping customers, making social media, scheduling classes, & filling orders.

For the record, do I think a one-day boycott is going to make much of an economic impact? No. Do I think that a sort of "Baby's First Boycott," performative though it is, might be useful to make some folks aware of the impact of their economic power, and how it might be wielded politically? Maybe.

It's #wipwednesday so here's how things are going in my world:
- two samples for work, one knit and one crochet. I'm not counting the two sample quilts that need binding.
- two projects for The Snips spring show. I have a third item in mind, but I should probably finish the first two

The really fun thing about getting involved for the first time is that you don't actually have to do it all from scratch yourself. You can just show up and do tasks assigned to you by people who already know what they're doing. It's much less stressful! And more effective!
If you’re new to organizing and you’ve decided to organize something, please, I beg of you, talk to people with experience in organizing. A logo or a catchy slogan aren’t enough.
