Barrel cactus in northwest Tucson with a shiny, almost candy red hue. Makes me think of sports cars and scandalously delicious lollipops.

Found myself watching an AZPM piece on agave, and remembered a picture that was taken recently along the road up to Rice Peak. The color and location means it's an agave chrysantha.

I find that my ability to enjoy the natural world around me comes and goes with the stress of daily living. Is it a worth while goal to improve the value of simply seeing the world again?

Part of what makes life so beautiful to me is understanding the struggle that takes place to get where we are.

I enjoy walking with my dog as she reminds me it's okay to be curious about things we already know. Watching the quail run around, listening to the wind under the bridge, sitting in the sunlight.
