You know... People would stop calling AI slop "AI slop" if they stopped doing AI slop...
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

"AI is here to stay, bro"

Yeah, that doesn't mean we shouldn't fight against its dangers, bro.

Is it that difficult to release a game mode that doesn't require internet connection?
Lobbying Group Says Stop Killing Games' Petition Would Make Games "Prohibitively Expensive To Create"
Stop Killing Games, a "consumer movement started to challenge the legality of publishers destroying video games they have sold to customers," has been picking up speed recently. It recently hit one million signees on its European Citizens' Initiative petition, the minimum amount it needs for the European Commission to officially respond to it. Now, the EU lobbying association Video Games Europe has offered its own statement arguing against the Stop Killing Games movement. "We appreciate the passion of our community; however, the decision to discontinue online services is multi-faceted, never taken lightly and must be an option for companies when an online experience is no longer commercially viable," the statement reads on Video Games Europe's website. "We understand that it can be disappointing for players but, when it does happen, the industry ensures that players are given fair notice of the prospective changes in compliance with local consumer protection laws. "Private servers are not always a viable alternative option for players as the protections we put in place to secure players’ data, remove illegal content, and combat unsafe community content would not exist and would leave rights holders liable. In addition, many titles are designed from the ground up to be online-only; in effect, these proposals would curtail developer choice by making these video games prohibitively expensive to create. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our position with policy makers and those who have led the European Citizens Initiative in the coming months."Continue Reading at GameSpot

People need to be careful when using the word "scam" to describe projects that didn't come up as intended.

Every scam ends up in a failed project, but not every failed project is a scam.

Corporations only care about money. They don't see the damage they are doing to human-made art, and human work in general.

With social media displaying numbers (comments, likes, reposts), it is easy to fall for ad populum-like fallacies

If you have an opinion, make sure it is supported by its evidence and not the amount of people that agree with it

Being validated by others doesn't always mean what you said is correct

Normalize creating more respectful and organized debates.

Instead of saying "this is sh!t", let's say "I think this is bad because of the following reasons:...".

Encouraging critical thinking instead of creating fights is better for society.

bigots: "these people are just mad because some think differently"

dude no. they are worried because there are some legitimately dangerous people out there that are trying to normalize dangerous behaviours.

This is going to be an awful year (and also an awful decade overall)

So many bad people extending their influence, controling the media, spreading misinformation, hurting the planet, hurting people...
THIS ISNT NORMAL !!!
its so blatant and gross!! they think we're stupid and they're not even hiding it!

A weird thing I see online is people going into a community of other people enjoying some stuff and randomly saying "hey but this thing sucks".

I mean, you are allowed to have your own opinions, but that's OBVIOUSLY going to feel out of place and will certainly make some people angry.

Programming / Dev forums seem to be really hostile

Q: "I don't know how to do this"
A: "then why don't you google it?"

Q: "I want to do this"
A: "but why would you want to do this?"

People need to learn that ChatGPT is, at its core, a language model, which means it will return coherent responses, but not necessarily factual responses (unless of course some facts are part of its training data set).
customers using chatgpt to fact check me at my job is truly the peak, the pinnacle, the apex of customer-facing work

Exactly. Also, keep in mind the following advice:

Corporations will always try to convince you (the consumers) that:

1) They invented something, even if they didn't.
2) You need said thing, even if you don't.
3) Said thing is good, even if it isn't.
there are no consumer-facing use cases for AI, and i fucking hate that it's being pushed as the next big thing. it's not a search engine, it's not a personal assistant, it's not helpful. it's a hole in the ground that we're all being asked to throw flaming piles of money into
"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search"

This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!!
