Friend, I understand the requirements of this law far better than you do, because I am part of the group of people suing to have it ruled unconstitutional (which it is). You are wrong. You are also wrong when you say it "safeguards users": it does not.

I think there are trillions of ways of enacting and pushing for change if discourse moves towards asking what can we do without looking for one perfect solution and rejecting every partial/incomplete step to attempt on the way there

and focus on identified issues of inequity; education, journalism & discourse should more strongly set the stage for people not buying into hype, consumerist behavrs. convenience without valid use cases and being captured as users into loss making businesses before having to deal with costs later

There could be sincere/stronger litigation like GDPR that punish exploitative data and advertisement practices, companies fundamentally driving use for the sake of ads and engagement could/should be hobbled, funding both from VCs and governments should less go for speculative marketing
