I served on the committee that made these awards. All the six finalists were great, but we had to make a tough choice. All of these dissertations are well worth reading, and I believe will be highly influential on the research literature.

Minni’s dissertation (for LSE) considers the role of managers and leaders in labor markets, and the negative effects on productivity of restricting women’s labor market participation. It shows that better managers can help make workers more productive by better matching workers to jobs. (4/4)
