My partner is using an older Note Air model for her PhD reading/annotating. Note taking in their first party reader app is super slick. The pen input gets laggy in third party apps (you can display pretty much any app since it runs Android). Cloud sync requires some manual work.

“All in on abundance” Gavin would be insane to veto this. Would wreck all credibility.

Fastest growing way of accessing linear channels today. The OTA broadcasts are uncompressed 4k in many markets, which is going to look better then any streaming service www.indiewire.com/news/analysi...
Why Do So Many Millennials Have a TV Antenna?
Millennials are (tied for) the generation most likely to own a TV antenna, a new study from CivicScience has found.

The idea that public amenities are bad because they might attract more undesirables to the area seems especially pervasive in LA.

Would be great except for the fact that ABC cannot afford to lose 40% of the American viewing public who watch via Sinclair stations. This is the great problem with conglomerates of this size.

Yeah it’s really bad

Based on what's coming out right now, I don't think its either. I grew up around these extremely online edgelord gamer types. I don't expect his idealogy to be so cleanly defined the more that comes out. Seems like someone who just wanted to do something crazy.

Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer scratched bullets with a Helldivers combo and a furry sex meme
The suspected shooter left a hodgepodge of extremely online taunts.

As soon as I saw "notices bulge" I immediately understood who this guy was. Kind of wild how much color is missing from this story in the news right now.

Paltry numbers compared to Apple Music’s 24/192 limit, but hopefully they end up with a more full catalog at their top end at least.

Long overdue, and paltry numbers compared to Apple Music’s 24/192 limit

Never realized how unusual the omnipresence of helicopters was until I moved from LA to Boston.

I truly do not think I can be considered an apologist when I think he’s a POS. Feel free to disagree.

A carbon tax is different then carbon credits. It is a very common idea among environmental groups that carbon taxes are the only effective public policy to be able to make a big dent in emissions.

He founded an electric car company to combat climate change and supported Obama and Clinton. You are living in an online reality and need to check in with the real world yourself, I’m sorry to say.

I think at the time it was genuinely possible to look at DOGE and think it could be the kleptocratic disaster that it was, or it could be a genuine bipartisan effort at common sense reforms. Elon had been an environmental liberal figure like a year earlier after all. Hindsight is 20/20.
August 18, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Like I said, the episode was released before DOGE had done anything. So yeah obviously that doesn’t reflect the reality of what happened later.

I think Demsas is someone who embraces complexity and the whole point of her podcast was to challenge preexisting ideas that we on the left tend to assume as true. Glancing at the headlines will never capture the essence of her work, which does make her a soft target. You should take a listen!

Government efficiency shouldn’t be a partisan issue. The episode doesn’t endorse Elon or the actual actions of DOGE, which all occurred later than the episode was released.
