I've never, ever understood the appeal of it. Like people fly out there to get married in the most gaudy way possible.

Cynical about this. Usually when they're talking about algorithms feeding harmful content to young people they're usually talking about live primary sources evidencing ongoing crimes against humanity being conducted by our 'allies' that undermine Western propagandist media narratives.

Do you mean trans people started to be accepted by, and allowed to participate in public life? I remember Nadia winning Big Brother in 2004 being a watershed moment for trans visibility and acceptance. We're a million miles away from that now. Their very existence is under constant attack.

Oh it's definitely a calculated strategy that the most callous and cruel anti-immigration policies are fronted by people of colour. That's why Mahmoud has literally played her victim card while defending stealing jewellery from refugees.

The Ched Evans and Michael Le Vell cases made me sick to my stomach. The defence literally used the fact that victims of sexual assault display lots of sexual trauma, as reasons to exonerate their abusers.

My wife and I learned a decade or so ago to stop wishing for or celebrating the downfall of awful Tories as they are almost invariably replaced by someone worse.

The irony is that she's also saying that the 'conspiracy theory' that Zionists control the media narrative and optics on the Middle East was a) actually just true, and b) that democratised access to primary sources via social media has broken through the propaganda chokehold.

I did bar work in the 00s and I still have a spider sense for when the atmosphere has turned in a bar just before the eruption of violence.
