Western NY.
So many questions about these statistics.
The trend of having 2 or fewer children is nothing new, it’s a pattern since the late 1970’s.
No middle child as mediator, peacemaker, soother-in-chief. Or are these behaviors attributed to that birth placement just a myth?

Average children per family U.S. 2023| Statista
The typical American picture of a family with 2.5 kids might not be as relevant as it once was: In 2023, there was an average of 1.94 children under 18 per family in the United States.

Well, that’s just wrong.
ALL the forks should be cake forks.

The storm is here.
We always get Chicago weather 25 hours later.
2 am, power is out.
Put in a call to the electric company.

Last minute deliveries happening today. I mistakenly added a case of mushrooms from the local restaurant supply warehouse (5 lbs).
They are beautiful, so stuffed mushrooms will be made.
This took me back to 1970’s menus-a Bacardi Rum Cake is a must do now.
Any other ‘70’s ideas?

Butter pie crust has been mixed, portioned, wrapped and is chilling.
What has happened to the morning? It’s 12:30 already.
This afternoon I’m going to sauté the celery, onion and mushrooms for the dressing. I will assemble it tomorrow, but any step I can get done ahead of time is a plus.💪

Sen. Mark Kelly on MS NOW: "I've had a missile blow up next to my airplane. I've been nearly shot down multiple times … My wife, Gabby Giffords, meeting with her constituents, shot in the head, six people killed around her … We know what political violence is.  And we know what causes it, too."

Letter from Charles Schultz to Joel Lipton.

The background is, as a fifth grader, Joel‘s class had an assignment to write to a famous person and ask what they believed made a good citizen.

Teachers out there-would this still be a good assignment for your students?

Thanksgiving dinner cooking begins today with the stock I will use for gravy and dressing.
Leftover rotisserie chicken and mirepoix, roasted to develop a more intense flavor.

Is Mac & Cheese on your Thanksgiving table?

We can be grateful for Chef James Hemings for popularizing this dish in the US. As an enslaved person, he accompanied Thomas Jefferson to Paris in 1784.

He trained as a Chef de Cuisine, learned to make gratin de macaronis & served it at State dinners.

It is now Plan B time for Thanksgiving dinner.
Plan A was to buy separate turkey parts and roast legs, thighs & breast individually.
Everyone is out of parts already, so we go to find a frozen whole turkey today to have enough time to thaw it by Thursday am.

The beef processing plant Tyson is closing is only one of 19 since 2023.
It seems the bill of goods we’ve been sold that the gop in red states are pro business may not be entirely true.

Or is he just a snake?
This whole scenario is just a little too sus for me.
Zohran Mamdani is a snake charmer.

That would be top of the list.
If you don’t want to read Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein together by candlelight whilst sharing dark chocolate and a vintage bottle of Château Margaux in an abandoned castle on the Irish coast during a full moon, then please don’t tell me you’re “down for a good time.”

Today is National Stuffing Day.
I’m with William H. Macy on this one, no funny stuff allowed.
‘Just wet it and make it hot.’
(he prolly doesn’t know about how much butter goes into it)😜

Round three of chemo for my partner fighting lung cancer.
One more series in December will complete the course.
So far he is tolerating the treatments well.
Cat scan is clear, bloodwork looks good.
Looking forward to January & a new start for him getting his life back to some semblance of normalcy.

This week will be overwhelming, the list of tasks is long and pressing.
An Elder gave me some advice.
1. Only put one task on your list for today.
2. Start the list with 2 things you accomplished yesterday.

Starts your day with a positive sense of accomplishment & less pressure to perform.

So, not matter how this day turns out, wear that tiara proud.

Great, that’s just great.
"Strange Structures Found Lurking in The Blood of People With Long COVID."

Analysis found long COVID patients had far more microclots than healthy controls — a median 19.7-fold increase — and the clots were also significantly larger than those seen in healthy blood.
