one year of doing my phd today 🎉
i think the thing ive found most interesting is balancing abstract blue sky ideas with real practical challenges and trying to problem solve in a way that moves the needle in both worlds
still feels surreal i get to do this for a living 🥰

i think a big problem with the public analysis space is that it merged with journalism/content creation and the disciplines are focused on very different things. for me, ~good analysis is built off lots of unseen work while content creation requires constant digestible updates.

one of the nerdier things i’ve ever said, but i just love working with unlabelled tracking data. i find it so fun being critical of terminology definitions and thinking about how something can be found in the data. i find it really helps my understanding of football as a whole
