Good Solstice morning to all who celebrate!

I live in the country surrounded by 100s of acres of commercial apple orchards. They're deserted this time of year, and I love my daily morning walks. Usually I manage 5.5 km.

Downside of country living...
Last night some local yokels tore down the mailboxes on our road. Most were just ripped off their posts, but ours got torn up by the post.
Still, this was my morning walk, so swings and roundabouts...

First snow falling this morning here on Lake Erie's north shore, and my wild persimmon tree is still stubbornly hanging on to so much sweet sweet fruit.

Time for some chicken content.
Our fat and sassy red hens moving onto garden beds that had been cruelly fenced off all summer. This garden path had been hidden by marigolds spelling over the edge of their raised bed. When pulling the marigolds out during garden clean-up, found a secret stash of eggs. This is my persimmon patch. These hens move in as soon as they're released from their coop in the morning, and then continue to clean up all day long. I have to get out before them in after sunrise to gather whatever fell overnight, or I would have none to harvest.
