Kamen Raider Gaim has to be in my top 3 stories ever. It's so masterfully done with deep and intricate characters, ever evolving worldbuilding and character dynamics. Yes, the show with this fucking orange fruit transformation is amazing and you need to watch it.

Maquia struck me very deep in my soul with its themes of family, love, loss, and letting go. I noticed there were several parallels to my own story, so I decided to study it and figure out how to amplify my own themes to bring tears of joy and sadness like I shed for almost the whole movie.

Dragon Ball Z inspired a group of characters I originally intended as throwaway antagonists for a book, but then they stuck, became their own culture and eventually kingdom, and got fleshed out into characters that barely resemble their inspirations. They are some of my favorite characters now.

Mistborn introduced me to the concept of hard vs soft magic systems and I found myself loving the certainty of hard rules for magic. I retooled my magic system to embrace these principles and even fused two separate ones in a way that expanded them both and even gave rise to a third!

Avatar: TLA is what gave me the idea to flesh my magic system out into eight elements. It also influenced the way I didn't want my magic system to work. Separation of magic by nation felt contrived to me, so I wanted to make it so anyone could wield any one Element, but they don't get to choose.

The idea for my fantasy series came from a hazy dream after watching the ending of NieR Gestalt, so a lot of story and character elements are similar, even if the worlds themselves are very different. Themes of moral grayness vs black/white lenses are also prominent, but less so than the game.
