At Texture, we're taking the counterintuitive path: fewer people, but better. After 5 startups, I've learned this approach accelerates success even while burning capital faster. Senior folks make better decisions when they matter most.

Yet energy companies are stuck with legacy systems "because we've already invested so much."

Reverse-engineered APIs = unstable, insecure, & unreliable. At Texture, we partner directly with OEMs to build stable, well-supported integrations that power distributed energy at scale. 💡 Learn why this matters: medium.com/texturehq/wh... #EnergyTech #APIs #Innovation

The ability to turn on Motion Cues in iOS 18 is a hugely underrated feature! After many car rides with it, can confirm it helps. Doesn’t entirely prevent motion sickness (for me at least) but does have a noticeable impact #ios

Here’s an article on how to enable it www.groovypost.com/howto/enable...

Why is it that no hotel ever has hand soap?

No matter how nice the hotel they always just plop a hard bar of soap next to the sink and leave you to wash your hands with an overly fragrant soap meant for your face.

Why??

Makes it impossible to find any time I need it

The US Post Office is a UX nightmare.

Horribly confusing, no instructions, you have to wait in line to speak to a human then have to go back in-line if anything is off.

I had to wait in the line three times to get through on my most recent visit 👎

Wish someone would clean that up!

It is 2023. How does every real estate For Sale sign not have a QR code on it?

I constantly find myself seeing them then find myself wasting time searching for the realtor name and/or address trying to find the damned listing page

Great night with an Irish Whiskey tasting for the CTO Slackers group here in NYC! Final pour was an incredible 33-year Bushmills rarity signed by the distiller. Hats off to Barry Chandler who flew in from Ireland to share the stories behind every whiskey and the history of Irish whiskey. Sláinte!

She's right. The invite tree is the way social media can scale responsibly.

Not only can you identify bad actors, but you can trace lineage of harassment campaigns to where hate groups organize off-site.

I don't think this place did this on purpose, but it is miraculous found money.
Both. The invite tree accountability makes people more judicious about bringing in solid people, the early suspensions of bad accounts increased trust/confidence about commitment to safety, and the smaller community feels safer too.

I do get nervous for #s going up & harassment campaigns starting
Does it feel safer and more fun because of the product itself or because our community is still relatively small so we feel safer to share thoughts?

(I dun have an answer)

…perhaps this should stay invite-only forever?

Would love if Bluesky could maintain a user tree like https://lobste.rs/u which would give visibility to who invited who and in the eventual inevitability that bad users are brought in, it’s easier to detect and shut down

But for now it’s so nice here
