The scenery was pleasant, and I rode out on the coach for most of the way, all the better to enjoy the warm weather. The sun that we enjoyed in Hamburg followed us for most of the way, and only in the last few hours did the sky turn to drizzle and finally a downpour, forcing me to repair inside the coach. Even then, I believe I made good use of my time, for I am almost finished with the Goethe you lent me, although my German reading is still slow and I had to resort to my pocket dictionary on occasion.
