This week @coe.int's Rapporteur Group on Human Rights meet to discuss how to better protect the right to a #HealthyEnvironmentForAll.

We remind them 500+ organizations & 200+ academics called on the Council to put the right in law to truly protect people & the planet!

Astrid Puentes Riaño has shared a great resource explaining why the right to a healthy environment should be binding under international law. We have also submitted an amicus curiae brief before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) advocating for this crucial recognition.
The human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment can be considered customary international law and, therefore, binding for States.

According to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a norm is a customary rule when it is “a practice generally accepted as law.”
