Lately, I favor installing benches on wide downtown sidewalks perpendicular to the flow of passersby. Creates a little "walking eddy" room [I just made that term up] to encourage neighbors to pause and talk. Example from Mount Lebanon, PA. What do you think?

50-acre cultural arts corridor opens Monday! Proud to see realization of this idea from the Dover-Kohl plan for Fayetteville, 2004. On charrette, Joseph Kohl sketched up the first ideas for this space.

New Hampshire National Bank (now Toscana restaurant), Pleasant Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, your #StorefrontOfTheDay. The building dates at least in part from 1794; it has served as a public market, a town hall, Portsmouth’s city hall, and a bank.

On Nov 8th, the Dover-Kohl design for Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach was recognized by the Urban Guild with its Award for Design Excellence. Clematis Street was reimagined in collaboration with landscape architects & engineers from Kimley-Horn.
