Too often interviews measure acting ability rather than skills. We’re not selecting the best based on merit; we’re selecting from a narrow circle not disadvantaged by bias based on class, non-English names, gender, age, race, looks, disability, etc.

Until Oct 2017, Disney allowed new hires' starting salaries to be based on previous wages. Systematically being paid less than men, women carried lower pay into their new jobs. After Oct 2017, Disney's gender pay gap dropped from 4.36% to 1.3%. @kimelsesser.bsky.social
